I heard a rumour CSIRO were actually considering ditching the carp virus and releasing you instead! Is corn your preferred carp bait or do you just use it for convenience

Never ceases to amaze me just how many variations occur with mirror carp.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I usually use worms in rivers but can become quite costly and u get a lot of eels.Mutley and Scruffy wrote:I heard a rumour CSIRO were actually considering ditching the carp virus and releasing you instead! Is corn your preferred carp bait or do you just use it for convenience

Corn is cheap and effective and it's rare to get by catch. Small cod and Redfin being the uncommon bycatch.
It still baffles me that these are not a common target species.. Fisheries and the angling community should work together to promote catching carp. It's easy to find them bait and tackle is standard and there a lot of fun (especially on the ulfs rods)
I don't think I'll ever get tired of catching carp.
If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

If fisheries ran a few carp culls I'm sure it'd boost there angling community we all know carp are here to stay but doesn't mean we can't do our best to support the natives

Re: A few of late
Perhaps they believe that it may not put that much of a dent in the carp population. Another possibility is with this one million thing, thinking they want to get kids into fishing, they (fisheries) may not want to promote a style of fishing where the children have to kill what they catch! Just a thought...but I understand where you are coming from.BIG GAV wrote:If fisheries ran a few carp culls I'm sure it'd boost there angling community we all know carp are here to stay but doesn't mean we can't do our best to support the natives
