First fish in 8 weeks

Post by Marty.A » Wed Apr 06, 2016 5:07 pm

Hi all
After a fishing absence of 8 weeks due to an arm fracture I finally got to wet a line today :super:
I headed off to the Moorabool Reservoir just past Ballan, in between the rain showers and getting stuck in the mud I managed to get two browns after 4 hours of fishing. The biggest went 45cm and the little guy went 36cm both put up a great fight.
I was using my Diawa Shinobi combos which are both 6ft 10" 3-5kg rods and a 3000 reels spooled with 8lb braid and 10lb flouro leader.
The larger brown was caught on a Rapala Scatter rap in the spotted dog pattern.
The small brown was caught on a Diawa Tournament 53SP spike in the black sniper pattern.
After a long time not fishing I'm rapt with the result even if it was only 2 fish caught and thankfully although my arm was sore afterwards I was just happy to get back to doing what I enjoy again.
Thanks to all the guys for their words of encouragement during my recuperation also it was much appreciated.

Cheers
Marty.A

OMG, I can't believe how low the water is, I remember years gone by when we used to fish the wall but there isn't any water at the wall. Well done anyway on the fish, there are still plenty in there

Those browns look really silver in colour. The water was very clear?

Not really clear but it wasn't murky that's for sure ,after the first one jumped I did think it looked like a salmon.

Nice work, I've found the trout pretty hard to catch from there.
