Trout/Redfin setup
G'day guys, I'm just after some suggestions for a trout/redfin setup for roughly $250-$300.
Most of my current set ups are either fairly heavy rods for Murray Cod or ultralight setups for small trout streams. I am after a setup for trout fishing in larger streams/rivers and lakes. It will also be for redfin mainly in dams/lakes.
Thanks in advance

Mate I run a Daiwa Gen Black Itchy Twitchy 1-3kg with a Daiwa Exceler 2000 for that kind of fishing. Both the rod and the reel are fantastic for the price. I run 6lb braid and have never had a problem.

To be honest, for a light value for money set up you could look at a Pfleuger Trion 1-3kg which can be had for under 100 bucks on special and pair it with a Shimano Symetre 1000 with some quality 4-6lb braid.
Nice light stick with enough guts for the bigger models, smooth reel and can cast it all day

My 1-3kg veritas spooled with 6lb spider wire and has pulled in 5 and 7kg carp.
For trout n Redfin my outfit is a drunkn monkey and an aird 1000 which was 200 buck total but got both from guys on here

If I'm not fishing, I'd rather be fishing!

Meppstas post reminded me that I actually use an Exceler DX. Different reel to the regular exceler

Re: Trout/Redfin setup
I use a majorcraft t702m and a stradic ci4+ (about to be either a luvias or certate 2004 a 2004h would be better but doesn't suit my other needs) for trout and most of my light fishing duties. the rod is brilliant although it is a touch long if you want to fish small streams. you can get away with a much cheaper reel but i would recommend putting a bit of $$ into the rod.
