It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I'm new to fishing but while fishing for trout I managed to hook up on a carp and it was the best fun my daughter and I had all day.She loves catching food for the table but they don't fight like carp do ,especially on light gear.

I reckon you're spot on Big G...

Carp are a much maligned sporting fish. I don't understand the 'hate' they get as well. Yes, they're a pest and widely considered to be inedible, but that doesn't mean they're not fun to catch...great fun on any gear IMO. What other species of freshwater species can you be confident of catching a ten pounder or catching more than 10 in a session?

The carp don't know they are pests, they are just doing what they do. It's up to us to remove them from the water to enable the "better" species to flourish but they are fun to catch. They do pull the string and help kids and beginners learn how to fight a fish. When that better fish comes along you will have a better chance of landing it if you have caught a few carp already.
Cast, catch and put it back

I love fishing for mud marlin, they are loads of fun on light tackle, and are very powerful my best is 4.7Kg, I have been busted off many times and even lost a rod to the beasts when I didn't know how to catch them but now I am more careful. 9lb mono, #1 ball sinker and #8 circle hook is doing it for me at the moment.

Love fishing for carp - great fun. I learned a lot about fighting fish from carp fishing growing up and I still love going down to the local creeks and weeding a few out.

If you want to catch Carp that are 3 foot long and over, then go to lake Colac, it is full of them ;-)
