How do u know it has/doesn't have eggs by piercing the swim bladder? I believe if I slice it's guts open it help the little fish get a feed.. I'm a caring murderer

Re: Caring for Carp the uk way
Piercing the swim bladder makes the fish sink...so it doesn't float. My determination of the fish being pregnant is just determined by looking at the belly in the absence of an ultrasound! Not sure what you do but I thought you meant you gut them, as in remove the eggs so they don't go back in? You also mentioned shallow grave...as in burying them. Just seems to be a lot of effort unless you just slice the gut.BIG GAV wrote:How do u know it has/doesn't have eggs by piercing the swim bladder? Well I slice them open and look for eggs sometimes a fat fish is just a fat fish sometimes a slightly fat fish has 900,000 odd eggs in it I just check to be sure it's not much of a hassle and by shallow grave I mean kick dirt throw it in the shallow ditch n cover it

Doesn't really matter if it has eggs or not, a dead carps eggs can't be fertilised, it's a myth.

I should have said in my earlier post that it is the park rangers that prefer them put back in rather than bury or bank them and attract feral's.
(hopefully this saves me from a bannin' :notworthy: )

You are always safe drewbie...I agree with what you said anyway, although I may confer with Sparkles for a second opinion regarding if banning should come into place...not sure on what grounds.drew 2 wrote:I should have said in my earlier post that it is the park rangers that prefer them put back in rather than bury or bank them and attract feral's.

The only situation my 'return' policy with carp is not that effective is when fishing shallow waters...regardless of how far out I turf them, the carp still seem to wash back up.
cheers
