Fishing the Big river arm

Post by mazman » Sun May 31, 2015 6:59 pm

Hey guys, Dad and I are hoping to head to the big river arm for a day over the long weekend, we are lead to believe this is the best area of eildon to try at this time of year for trout. The only problem is we're not really sure how to fish here (or eildon in general). We will be fishing from kayaks and most likely be launching close to the big river mouth (is that the right word).

Thanks in advance
Cheers Alex

Its entirely true abt it being the best place but its good this time of year.

Troll or cast lures for the trout.

Vary your colours and depth until you find the right combination

Troll or cast onto the trees being prepared to lose lures in return for fish

Cheers bn

Thanks Bm, any advice on lure choice. atm I have xrap 08's, tassie devils, spinners, various metal spoons and more sps than you can poke a stick at. Anything you would recommend picking up in addition to this or have a covered the bases fairly well

That should be fine what you have.!!! Sounds like you a have a variety

Just keep changing colours and depths

I generally start with a dark color in the morning and troll it on top.....then change color a few times if nothing is happening

Once the sun is on the water you will need to go deeper.....

Thanks, will try something similar to that, and also make sure dad and I are covering different bases until we find what works.
