Some midwinter redfin fun.

Post by robbiefishing » Sat Jun 16, 2012 8:31 pm

I headed out to my favourite redfin spot today with the expectation of catching absolutely nothing after almost 2 weeks straight of frosty nights!!
To my surprise I found the fish were hungry and willing. Here are a couple of reddies from today:
This one fell to a 3 inch Zman ShrimpZ fished with a TT snakehead,

This big boy fell to a Pontoon21 Greedyguts55.

This one smashed my Zman 2.5" curl tail grub!!

This one engulfed the Strike tiger soft plastic and nuckelball jighead.

All up I caught around a dozen or so nice reddies today. Not bad for a day when i expected to catch nothing!! For the first time in my life today I used a lure scent. I was using the "Dizzie's CLF lure scent" I was given some to try out about 3 months ago and have never actually used it, but today I decided to give it a try being that it is the quietest time of year, and boy was I impressed!!

Thanks Brett. I find the clearer the water the darker the redfin seem to be. Small waterways with lots of gumtrees around them seem to lead themselves to brilliantly coloured redfin!

Nice fish! Doesn't surprise me but. Do you find that you don't get too many smaller ones in the winter? That's what I seem to find and their coloring seems to fade here as well in the colder months.
thanks
