Any fish at Sugarloaf Reservoir Park?
Hi guys,
I just wanna know if I can fish at Sugarloaf reservoir park? Where to fish, what fish are there and what kind of bait to use?
I found the information below from the visitor guide:
"Fishing
Try shoreline fishing for Yellow Belly, Redfin or European Carp. Shoreline fishing is only allowed in specifically designated areas during park hours. Please make sure you have a Victorian Amateur Fishing Licence.
Please do not wade in the water, use burley or clean fish in the reservoir. Use only lures or artificial bait (no worms, maggots or bait fish from anywhere else are allowed in this waterway). "
I found another piece of information from a website saying there are even rainbow trout and brown trout there!?
I attached a map of the park, and I appreciate it if anyone could tell me the spot.
Thanks.

Yeah I've seen people fishing there. I tried a couple of times but no luck.
I think I can remember there's signs saying no bait fishing allowed only lures

i've only caught reddies in there on soft plastics but there's also trout, carp ,yellowbelly and a few more species. again, lures only but i can't see why your not allowed to use natural baits like worms or maggots in there.

Caught Reddies on plastics. Just look for them busting up on the bait fish and put a lure in their midst. Mostly in the 25cm avg. Take some lures and walk the banks.
. Have also seen carp but these are a harder prospect on lures. Heard of yellows but never seen one caught. I've seen tench too. Can sometimes see fish smacking the surface out deeper and this might be trout.

From memory you can't use bait there because it's drinking water..

It's supposedly a decent yellow belly spot but i've only ever got reddies there. Spinners, tassie devilsand plastics, Cast near ANY of the dead trees in the water.

I've had a few follows from some decent yellas never had one take. I've only ever caught redfin. Be prepared to lose some lures, everytime i go there my lure box comes back with less than it started.
