I guess the amount you catch you would. Might get a few myself to do the fertiliser thing may even mince them.Cornacarpio wrote:Nah...I used to, but ended up running out of room. Now I dispose of them 'thoughtfully' either by chucking them in the bin, or eviscerating them before returning them to the water, or chucking them in the reeds...rb85 wrote:Do you fertilise your garden with these?

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
Headed out to Cherry Lake tonight after work in hot and humid conditions - ideal for fishing, right? WRONG! I barely got a bite...I got a tiny little nibble which was probably a micro Carp or maybe even a minnow! I did notice someone had an Eel in their creel on the way to 'my spot' but I couldn't manage any aquatic species at all...
On my way home, riding along the Kororoit Creek I came across a (Tiger?) snake! I saw one a couple of weeks ago, but this time I managed to take a snap with my camera. Not 15km from the CBD! I've seen snake signs up at Gardiners Creek, but was actually sceptical there was actually any around...this side of town in the Williamstown/Altona area I have already seen 2! It's amazing the wildlife you see in the city if you just open your eyes and look!
I've dough-nutted the past 2 times I've gone to Cherry. Maybe it's time for a self imposed ban...maybe I should start hitting the salt. Maybe I should start hitting 'warmies' under the West Gate which is actually closer to me than CL?
Is it true that fish live in salt water?

Koroit creeks got plenty of your target species in it.
Defo more salt options in the inner west tho.

You will find that monster carp you are after north of Kororoit creek road in the creek around where the train tracks are.
Be wary of those slithering things because there are a few of them. Over the years I have caught a few up around the 20 lb mark and many between 10 and 15. Nothing special needed but you will find it difficult to stop the big ones as its snaggy water.
Good luck

Re: Cornacarpio's Cumulative Carp Culling Caper
Headed to a place I vowed I would never return today...CL. I was going to go under the Westgate, but it's an estuary, I didn't have any bait, and I don't know what I'm doing! So CL it was, the old and familiar. Luckily, I was getting bites fairly early on in the piece, which kept my interest up. My first fish was a nice little Goldie, followed by a slightly larger common Carp. Although I only got two, I was getting bites fairly regularly, so I felt I was always in the game, unlike my past two outings. This is how fishing should be - still catch something even if they are not exactly 'on the bite'. My faith in CL has tentatively been restored!

Mate next time you go and your not getting any bites get some tuna oil and dip you bread on corn in that before you cat your line out it should get whatever is around interested.
It works 90% of the time for me.
