I camped in a magic location close to the junction of two creeks providing a lot of fishing options:
The first stream runs through quite lush vegetation:
Just on dark trout started rising everywhere. I tried ant and moth patterns but when I changed over to an orange stimulator I hit the jackpot. I landed quite a number of small rainbows and missed many takes due to slow reflexes  :
The next day I slept in and missed the morning rise. I fished the second stream which you can see has quite different geology and vegetation:
By that time of day the trout weren't interested in flies so I reverted to lures. This stream is dominated by browns:
It also contains these pests  :
Last night I went back to the first stream and changed tactics. With flies, wet nymphs are more effective than dry flies for catching the big ones but are more difficult to fish. In particular the skill is detecting the take which is often barely perceptable. I missed a couple of takes and with all the rises around me I was tempted to go back to dry flies. I'm glad I didn't because I was rewarded for my patience with this beautiful rainbow which lept out of the water half a dozen times  :
I slept under a dark sky with a million stars and life felt good.
