St leonards pier report Saturday 29th March 2014

Post by hornet » Sun Mar 30, 2014 7:20 pm

Here goes ! arrived at st Leonards 3pm Saturday afternoon and finished fishing 7.00am Sunday morning, final take home tally eight 30 to 40cm king George whiting, one 30cm pinky, one good size squid.

threw back about 11 undersized pinkys, released two port jacksons one at 7 kilo and one at 3 kilo, threw back eight banjo sharks and one stingray.

dropped a flathead about 50cm, dropped about 6 king Geoge whiting, dropped a good snapper weight unknown unmistakable head shakes (read heavy thumps on line )

oddity: under the second light as you walk on the pier there was a mulloway that looked to be about 80cm ? a group of guys were throwing different baits and lures unsuccessfully.

he was just cruising around the weed beds coming into the light and disappearing again only to return a short while later, he did this for about one hour.

the dredge is in the little harbour pumping sand back onto the beach at present reducing the sand spit that has built up over the years, I have never seen it here before.

In all a busy night with rods needing constant re baiting due to the small pinky's competing with the whiting, the pinky's were in front ! and the banjo's were a pain !

The Mulloway was probably inhaling Squid.
