Portarlington last week

Post by Daniel_96 » Sun Jan 19, 2014 6:56 pm

Just got back from a 10 day holiday in Portarlington, when we got there, the locals were saying that there had been no fish caught for a while, but after a few days the action picked back up, me and my mate were pretty much desperate to catch anything to begin with, using small hooks and white bait. On our most productive day, we caught about 30 pinkies between us, probably 10 undersized flatties, as well as 7 legal flatties and 2 nice sized salmon. Also caught my first ever fish on soft plastic, a ~35cm flathead on a 100mm bloodworm wriggler :-D. was a fun catch on my little 1-3kg trion :r

EDIT: no pics as I didn't want to risk my phone in our little tinnie

Cheers,
Daniel.

It surprised me! We were heading out to a spot that I had had success at before, but in a little tiny the weather has to be pretty perfect to get out that far, so we settled about 1/2 way out. After about 30mins with no bites and the swell starting pick up, I pulled in my baitsoaker and flicked a couple of plastics while waiting for my dad and little sister to get bored. It was the biggest fish of the trip too

yeah? I've never tried going for squid. There is a good spot for fairly big flatties out there if you want a PM.
