How often do you fish shallow jigs?

I consistently outfish others with shallow jigs in 0.5-2m of water.

You get about 15-20 seconds of fall, instead of 3-5.
Cheers Lightningx!
Great to just get out and have a flick.

Great question there Longbombs!
I only use the size #2.5 these days.
This model #2.5 has a sink rate of 10g, 5.5secs / meter, which I think is perfect balance between rise/fall during action at that 0.5 - 2m depth.
We also have a very slow tidal movement here, so the sideways drift is non-existent.

Chasing the larger winter calamari I reckon that it would be awesome to have a larger profile #3.0, while also still fishing those shallow depths! It's a challenge finding a larger profile, but super shallow weight. The Yamashita #3.0 EGI OH K Super Shallow is a 14.5g, 8.0sec / meter sink rate which hits the brief and is better sideways drift. Will be testing this left colour with the natural cloth and gold foil.

I know you're with Yama Andrews but for options in sink rates keystone jigs are the best I've found. Most (if not all) of their jigs come in a range of sink rates and the sink rates are consistent across the different sizes

Fair enough - maybe give them a try one day!

I've used the Yamashita shallows but they pretty much don't sink which makes it hard haha...

The Evergreen XS are also a good option just quite expensive.

Cheers for sharing that Mazman!
I've got a friend who's with keystone and he swears by those V0 Shallow models off Clifton Springs in the kayak!
That 9 - 15sec / meter does look pretty dang nice when you're fishing that shallow.

I can always appreciate the variety and technology other squid jig brands are using.

I will say the one thing I've noticed with those K series are that they ride the drift sitting horizontal.
How that plays out with the small tidal movement of springs it yet to be seen, but it's always nice to have options!

Yeah, they've been a bit slow in recent weeks!
