St.Leonards report Sat june 11th 2017

Post by hornet » Sun Jun 11, 2017 10:44 pm

I fished St Leonards last night, 5 degrees ! it was very cold, I managed 4 whiting, 1x 42cm 1x 40cm and 1 x 38cm and 1x 37cm, lost two to the rocks, these winter whiting are horses ! they are so fat in the girth, last week my mate landed one at 45 x cm, if you can brave the cold there are some beasts out there. Please excuse the cappy photos..

Bait was pounded squid on circle hooks, outgoing tide, full moon, off the pier..
The fillets were huge, had them for dinner tonight, they were fantastic, fresh beats frozen fillets every time.

Nice work mate, it always amazes me how quickly you stop shivering once the bite happens. Can get bloody cold on the pier in the dark without a bite. Bet they tasted nice :)
