Hi Guys
I have recently just bought a boat and I am very raw when it comes to saltwater fishing
I went out last Saturday and everybody was catching whiting (except me only my second time)
I was after some advice on set ups for whiting as I would like to get my kids keen on fishing

Rod size 7ft ??/
Line, braid , colour?? strength
do I need a fluorocarbon leader
hook size
red tubing beads ?????
and what sort of rigs paternoster or running sinker
and best times with tides

any advice would be appreciated

Running sinker is fine....thats that I use

I use flourcarbon leader...but its not crucial

Your rod sounds fine.

Fresh bait is a advantage.

Sometimes you just need a bit off luck.

Cheers bm

Rod is fine, caught them with braid and mono.
I use Fluro and hook size about a 6 with beads.
Have caught them with both paternoster and running.
Pippies, mussels, squid strips

Generally we drift for squid at st Leonards then hit the whiting grounds with fresh bait n paternoster rigs are all we use. Sometimes u come up stumps though. I've sat there netting my mates fish all day n the only whiting I caught was on a snapper snatcher on my gummy rod -.-

But sometimes u just can't keep em off ya baits! Keep at it whiting fishing is great fun unfortunately I didn't even get a whiting this season to preoccupied with cod

Just don't leave rods in rod holder...work one rod by slowly winding it in then pausing n repeat...
Also if you like fishing with plastics..give a turtle back worm a go
