Nice one Ducky, l prefer drifing for squid but when anchored up for whiting etc. I'll have a cast or sometimes even just hang a jig out the back in the current.

Not massive mate. 18-26cm hoods.

Yeah we were actually going for whiting but always cast lures until we start getting action on the whiting rods. None came but we were braining the squid so we stuck at it.

What were the sizes of the flathead you caught trumpeter?

Nothing spectacular, the largest specimens would've been 35cm with many just size or under. I did see someone with an esky full of good sized 40cm, ones at the cleaning table.

We got four good sized squid following suggestion here drifting in 3 to 4 meters between indented head and portarlington. Turned these into panko crumbed rings last night for a magnificent feed.
