Had a good night floundering tonight. Flathead were between 38 to 51cm. Water was like glass and very cold!

Been waiting for my chance to go floundering somewhere between Rosebud and Rye area. Weather is not cooperating. Need glass-like condition..

I was surprised by the number of flatties and it was high tide. At one stage I was chest deep. You could see the sand impressions where some had been lying in only a few inches of water and only 6 feet from the shoreline.

I got close to another 3 but not close enough to line them up for a shot. Heaps of gars, I could have caught 50 or more but I haven't eaten them before.

Great feed.

Flounder are a very underrated eating fish.

Well done.

Nice catch mate, what light do you use for floundering? I have bought 3 from BCF and all have been faulty!

LED all the way! Halogen are no good and draw too much power.

This one below puts out 2025 lumens and lights up the water like daylight and I only need to use a small battery which fits in my waders.

I mounted it on a piece of electrical conduit for the pole and just reinforced around the lens with some more silicone.

I might be upgrading to a 4000 lumens LED light soon. The gars will be coming from everywhere!
