A 9ft and above rod would be useful if you are going to fish into the night big things lurk there

I've also seen gars there..
Onshore winds are best for Snapper, a little late but you never know, there may still be a few around. I'd definitely recommend a bigger rod with a large bait running sinker..
Loose drag is a must (as mentioned above). Have seen plenty of massive Rays & Banjo's there.
I caught my first ever squid there. It's a good option if it is calm enough, i see plenty of fisho's half way up the pier between the small platform (follow the ink stains)..
Good Luck :)

Havent fished since uni days but I used to catch snapper, trevally(often quite large), KGW(again XL size), garfish, tommy rough, squid and there are some massive rock flathead and blue spots in the the rocks of the breakwall and the shallow reefy area.

The kgw there were so big, they used to swallow whole pilchard on snelled hooks when fishing for snapper!! :r
When I got time,
I wet a line cos Im a junkie,
been fishin since a kid,
I like it cos it numbs me..
