I had to go to portarlington today to drop something off decided to drop into mario's bait and tackle to buy another double clutch love there action. Anyway had a couple of hours to kill had my rod with me so no brainer, the wind was blowing nearly straight on the pier tried to cast the double clutch no chance so I changed to a 40g slug and worked up and down the pier for nothing, when I got down the bottom end near the shelter a local mate of mine rolled up he lives near the boat ramp always good for info. George mate whats happening then in his heavy maltese accent make you will catch nothing with lures there all on the bottom so he promptly baited his hook with a piece of pilchard chucked it out bang a salmon of about 400g looks like I picked the wrong day to fish lures. We had a quick chat then he was on again I left with the excuse have to get back to melbourne work tomorrow.
