queenscliff sun

Post by Nude up » Sun Jul 13, 2014 10:18 pm

Fished today out of queenscliff with mikeski a visitor to aus from america. Mike posted we got chatting about his days in the navy he was looking for a guide so I took him out for the day.Due to terrible v line service mike staying in the city me in the western outer suburbs I picked him up from the station in geelong and headed to queenscliff. We fished a favourite spot of mine and we picked up two flathead I got one at 54cm and mike his first flathead at 50cm.
The tide was rippin and the weed was shocking so we moved into swan bay burleyed up for 3 banjo's. We had lunch decided to go to have a look at popesye and the seals at the chinamans hat, dropped in some lures and trolled around nothing couple of lure changes hardbody bibed, halco slices still no salmon very disappointed we saw a few birds working followed them still nothing.
The tide backed off so we headed back to just outside swan bay mike picked up a big port jackson then a leatherjacket and we had anchored over a big school of wrasse all around the 36 to 39 cm mark by now it was getting dark so we headed back we caught heaps of fish but only two keepers mike caught quite a few species he had never caught before all in all a good day.

Nude Up showed me a great time. I try to fish where ever I go when traveling the world for work. Most countries rules are so convoluted it makes it impossible for foreigners to fish. And weight limits on luggage do not allow dragging gear around for just in case there is a possibility. I can't thank him enough.

It was an outstanding day on the water. The sun was in and out for a good part of the day. We managed to avoid the rain when it was around. The wind was down unlike the previous week. And there were a number of rainbows in the distance.

We caught a good amount of fish. All of which I had never caught before. So I was like Number 5 out there sucking up all the info I could.

Here are a couple more pics for the masses.....

The rod above was bent because there was one of the following on it.

I am not sure why this fish looks so happy. There was a hook in its mouth and it's out of the water.
