"business meeting in Geelong"

Post by nafa » Tue May 27, 2014 11:15 am

The Mrs has scheduled me to have a meeting in Geelong on Thursday but I am seriously considering sneaking the rods into the car and doing some bait drowning after it in the afternoon. Is there any action down at Portarlington, Barwon Heads , Cunningham's etc that Members are aware of that can make the drive to Geelong really worth my while. Thanking people in advance Nafa.

Have a listen to the Pulse Geelong fishing show, available on line or on 94.7 at midday today. They should have the information that you are after.

Reports are ok for a general guide, don't take them as gospel, the 2 or 3 people that report a spot is dead may be noobies, used the wrong bait, fished the wrong tide, used the wrong rig or Techniques, or were just plain unlucky on the day.

I have proved reports wrong many times by trying for myself...

I'd hit the Barwon, pump some yabbies there or use chicken fillet soaked in tuna oil, burley hard, you will at least get some mullet for fresh baits.

Was in Geelong Sunday arvo for a couple of hours, and the bay was flat as a tack. Had a quick look at St Helen's and Cunningham while we were their, I saw a few rods move but only saw 1 small Flattie landed

I'd suggest Barwon River @ Barwon Heads if you're looking for some fun catching salmon, mullet, small whiting, possibly trevally.
If you're looking for a feed, go St Leonards pier for flatties and whiting.
