They are a good size fish but your right the location is somewhat crappy.
Got it off pier where the gars ussally r....

I see, I've done lousy on the gars land based this year, hope I do better next year... that little jetty we fished off at the start had virtually hundreds if not thousands of gars around it ! trouble was they were all 3 to 4 inches long, should be a bumper crop next year !

It's not just you who has done lousy on the gars this year mate... I gave up on them awhile ago lol

I used to get sick of catching gars and now I really want some lol the only ones I got this year were earlier in the year in the warmer months when I used to go spearing for flounders/flatties and would scoop gars in a small net.
