Portarlington to St Leonards Fishing Report

Post by Chaba » Wed Aug 29, 2018 8:38 pm

The wife and I headed out on Saturday at around 10.30am from Pt Richards after resolving a couple of elect issues on the boat.
Barely any wind and only about a dozen trailers at the ramp. Happy days!

Picked up 3 smallish calamari just off Grassy Point, then headed around to the 10m mark off Indented Head for some Flathead but couldn't catch anything over 25cm so we headed further down and drifted around east of the White Lady on the 17m mark. Had a little more luck there with the flatties but only just on size - I wont keep anything that small (hate filleting the little guys).

We then headed back in towards St Leonards to where every boat in Melbourne was anchored up and picked up 5 good sized calamari.

The deckhand called time at 3.00pm so we headed back around the corner and stopped to flick some soft plastics around Prince George Bank and managed to grab a 42cm flattie on a crappy plastic that honestly was still stuck to a 3/8 jighead from last summer. The jig was more like cement - not plastic!

Anyway, great day, perfect weather, and good to be out there.

Will do Nude up. We're finally starting to get some decent weather (wind-wise at least) so we'll be making the most of it. Safe travels!
