Geelong / Portarlington
Have not put up a report for a while, so here goes
Finally had a chance to get the newest member of our fishing crews fleet on the water today, Captain Cranky! Was a cracking morning so decided to see what sort of range we could get out of a tank before we start to take it offshore. Launched from St Helens ramp at the gentlemanly time of 8:30.
The boat handled like a dream so opened it up and made it around to indented heads in no time at all, a few boats fishing in the channel off clifton springs but not a hell of a lot of boats on the water given how good a day it was.
Drifted around prince George bank and the 3 of us had our bag of squid in around 2 hours, a few medium size but mainly small. Decided to go for a cruse a bit farther down the shore line so made it to swan bay and turned around and came home.
So much life in the bay at the moment, dolphins came out of nowhere to play in front of the boat, seals sunbathing everywhere and gannets smashing the water in the massive bait balls we sounded up All in all a cracking day on the water.

Great photos how big is the fuel tank, swan bay from st helens is a fair way.how many klm did you cover.here is some useless information gannets have an airbag in their skull which they inflate just as they hit the water to prevent knocking themselves out
Re: Geelong / Portarlington
Cheers mate, the fuel tank is 140 l, covered around 90 - 100 kms with 100l on board (had the back up tank there too just in case) sat on around 22 knots. There was a little chop first thing in the morning but the trip home was glass, will give it one more run in a bit choppier weather to get a good gauge on the range.Nude up wrote:Great photos how big is the fuel tank, swan bay from st helens is a fair way.how many klm did you cover.here is some useless information gannets have an airbag in their skull which they inflate just as they hit the water to prevent knocking themselves out

Nice cruising speed I normally cruise between 22 and 27 knots depending on the conditions. How much fuel did it use
