Thanks guys, yeah covered some ground for few quality salmon. But I don't mind because I was staying there. In fact every few weeks I'm driving up to Port Fairy for surf or rock fishing, so I'm used to. Yup, charter was $200. Only for jigging I don't think its worth it! If you can try variety of techniques like live baiting you'll have way better chance landing more. But as you can imagine jigging always be preferable way for charter operators!! I guess somehow I have to install a sounder/gps unit for my jetski so I can give it a crack outside of the heads on good days!

That must have been a huge fish you lost... doesn't sound like a big salmon to me.

I'm almost certain it wasn't a red, mulloway, eagle ray or gummy. Caught all those from rocks/surf and this wasn't fighting like them. It was running near the surface and heading straight to reefs/ rocks. So I'm leaning to kingie. Well, we'll never know. Last few season seen few caught along the GOR but haven't heard this passing season yet!
