life IS better...

Post by eel_immortal » Sun Jan 17, 2016 6:39 pm

Very happy that I now have a humble 10 foot tinny.. Been exploring new grounds and coming home with a feed most times. Today with the calm weather headed the long journey for the little 8hp from limeburners to the spoil grounds off curlewis/Leopold to find snapper.. Well my mate hooked up second cast of the soft plastic for a 1.5kg (51cm) specimen. Not bad for the first thing he ever caught on plastic. After a small pinkie it went pretty quiet so we eventually motored to the other spot we've been hitting north of the channel. No end of small flathead and a couple of beauties around 40cm. Very pleased with the day and can't wait to go again :)

Nice stuff. Getting out onto the water makes such a difference to the catch rate I've found.

IMO he is right though. Land Based is an order of magnitude harder than with a boat/yak IMO

Thats a fair distance from limeburners to curlewis you could launch at clifton springs and save some time. Straight across from there wilson spit and the quarries. When you come around the alcoa pier just near there is a spot called the corvette hole its on the ppb waterproof fishing map its always worth a look caught plenty of gummies there years ago when I fished down that way a lot.
Great report and some nice fish there you had better work some overtime because next you will want a bigger boat to go further faster in all weather tight lines.
