Weather worth going for natives

Post by Sebb » Fri Dec 14, 2018 3:58 pm

Hi all,

I'm still trying to learn natives fishing. Victoria has been hit with a storm. Is it worth going this weekend to look for aussie bass or cod or yellow belly? Or wait for clear water and hot days?
Any tips will be appreciated.

Cheers.

Rising flows in rivers mean new ground to feed on providing there is a bit of clarity (not iced coffee) and its safe enough its worth a shot.. I also wanted to fish this weekend but gotta get some Xmas shopping done..

Dirtier water will make your fishing a lot harder especially if casting lures.. lakes might be the go to I almost decided to hit up Eppalock cause I couldn’t go for cod due to the conditions.. I’ll wait I’m almost on holidays

I'm just worried of the dirty water. I assume dirty water (milo chocolate) will make the fishing hard? Do the Gippsland rivers get dirty easily? Especially after the rain.

There are plenty of lakes around that have natives :water:

All rivers will be flowing hard after recent weather events. One of the many lakes available may be a better opportunity. Note that fish tend to come in close to shore to feed over newly covered ground after heavy rains. Due to dirty water after heavy rains, bait fishing may very well outfish any artificials. In dirty water, scent outweighs a fish's sight.
Get my drift??
The barometer is another thing, but considering the stormy conditions, fish through and you should do OK.
