That technique would be dynamite on them and you wouldn't have to collect any shrimp

Try the shrimp loaded small baitkeepper or circle hook, just fill it with shrimp, light flex rod or whitting rod loaded with 8 - 15 lb mono line, light running ball sinker to small swivel same mono leader of 2-4 foot and just lift every mouth full of beer, 2 beers no touch move to another snag. i find a new green leaved branch or tree fallen in the river helps.

works for me, when the arvo sun hits, then dusk have cod setup and loaded shrimp set up at a hole found during arvo travels happy days
