a week up the murray @ yarrawonga

G'day fishos

I have just returned home from a week away up at Yarrawonga. Although the big cod eluded me around 80-90 fish were caught in 6 days.

We fished the river 3 days and the lake 2 (full days) with night fishing on the lake in between

Around 50 cod around the 35-55cm mark
A few smaller than 30cm
Around 10 silver perch unto 47cm
A few yellow belly between 40-52cm
And a heap of carp unto 80cm and 15lb (most around 40cm)

All caught on bait. worms, cheese and bradi grubs

We also got my little god son and my 7yo nephew their first fish. They loved it and loved riding around in the old tinnie.

After a GREAT week with a real hot bite i still can't shake the disappointment of not getting the big cod. What makes it hurt even worse is seeing a bloke land a meter plus cod with my own eyes, in one of my go to spots on the lake (at the front of the canal).. ahhhhhh

Theres always next time.. That's fishing i suppose. Its what keeps us all hooked.

Cant wait for the next trip already

Did you try lures at all? It might help with getting the big one. Also surface lures are a lot of fun but in Mulwala it means putting in many hours through the night.

Best Wishes
