Just curious - with EPs being increasingly stocked in lakes around Victoria what are they like in the eating department?

I know a guy who catches them all the time in the Tarwin up at inverloch, he says they’re awesome on the plate. I’ve never tried them though.

Tried some about 15 years ago and they were all right. A bit softer flesh and milder flavour compared to bream. I don't know if I'd eat them out of the local impoundments though. I think those who don't like strong flavoured fish would find them ok.

I wouldn't be keen on the stocked fish, they are pretty slow growing and the water in some of the lakes would hold all sorts of fun stuff i imagine

If you catch them in salt water they taste really good but if you catch them in fresh water they are edible but nothing special
