GOOD NEWS FOR LAKE DARTMOUTH MACCAS
Further to the recent post about Maccas in the Upper Murray catchment the following is in regard to Lake Dartmouth:
Hi Paul,
Yes we've been up there each year for broodfish collections for fisheries and collecting fish for translocation's but whilst doing so making sure we collect baseline population data to keep an eye on things.
No official report of late but in short, the lake seen a big increase in productivity and subsequent Macca growth and reproduction success when it refilled after the drought; then we've seen some great recruitment/reproductive success from 2012 - 2015. As such there are good numbers of juvenile fish in the lake at the moment (hence our acting to use these cohorts for translocation's). A couple of publications on this attached if interested.

Re: GOOD NEWS FOR LAKE DARTMOUTH MACCAS
Here is the first article - it is highly scientific so best of luck!
www.nrcresearchpress.com/toc/cjfas/71/12
The article is titled "Reservoir refilling enhances growth and recruitment of an endangered remnant riverine fish". It is interesting to note that one Macca from Dartmouth was aged at 26 years.
