Have a look at the strike tiger range, hawgs, nymphs & t-tails all do well on trout. Green & black colours with 1/12 - 1/20 jig heads. Other rigs with unweighted hook and running weight or a carolina rig if your in a boat.

Re: Trout on soft plastics
fishing landbased ? for a jighead 1/8 good allrounder and can get a bit of distance casting as for soft plastic squidgy silver fox fish not the most durable on the market but cheap

Would a Squidgy Fish Soft Plastic Lure - 50mm black/gold be ideal?

Re: Trout on soft plastics
In my experience a slimmer profiled lure like the t-tail ratbag mentioned will outfish a squidgy fish. There's plenty of options on the market for a slimmer profiled 2.5" paddle tail a few notable mentions are; ecogear grass minnows, berkley t-tails, strike tiger t-tails and zman slim swimz.
I haven't really used creature baits on trout usually use small hardbodies or paddle tails plastics but I've seen plenty of others have success on them.

Some great suggestions here to get you going.Pethrk wrote:ratbag wrote:Have a look at the strike tiger range, hawgs, nymphs & t-tails all do well on trout. Green & black colours with 1/12 - 1/20 jig heads. Other rigs with unweighted hook and running weight or a carolina rig if your in a boat.

As per Mazman, I to find the smaller slimmer profiles better for trout. The grass minnow is another good one. There is a huge range of minnow style SPs with small to large paddle tails.

There are few other things that will vary on the day, if you mix used the retrieve you'll work out a success. There is no one solution, I'm still trying different things to catch them. If the water is clear I like to use natural lighter colours and if it's a bit murky, I use the darker colours.
Let us know how you get on!
