Some great suggestions here to get you going.

As per Mazman, I to find the smaller slimmer profiles better for trout. The grass minnow is another good one. There is a huge range of minnow style SPs with small to large paddle tails.

There are few other things that will vary on the day, if you mix used the retrieve you'll work out a success. There is no one solution, I'm still trying different things to catch them. If the water is clear I like to use natural lighter colours and if it's a bit murky, I use the darker colours.
