. I got back to my Macca spot this morning.Arrived at 7:30 and was a bit surprised to see the usual tea tee coloured water was really fresh, clean and clear, which gave me a really good visual of the sandbank tailing into deep water.Again perfect weather, cold wet and overcast.
I ended up landing one healthy fish (catch and release)and lost 2 more at the waters edge, one was a thumper and a fair bit bigger than the average here.

Great to see some healthy Maccas - next time I am back in Australia I aim to spend a few days in the rights places. It is easy to see why Maccas were called "white eyes" in the old days. Your first pic really shows this.

'Mountain perch' typifies them for me mate.I find them hundreds of metres above sea level where at this time of year the fog doesn't lift at all some days. But they are the conditions they are so active in.These Maccas really are healthy and most are about maybe 20-30cm and about a kilo with the odd bigger one.
I'm happy each time I go to catch just one and in fact I try to target blackfish as much as Maccas, but it's awesome to see such a healthy population of them.
Im certainly no expert on Maccas but this streams also allows them migrate to a larger body of water when the water level rises ect
