Operation Lake Nagambie

Post by jedgpz » Mon Feb 18, 2019 8:52 am

Over the past few years I have taken a liking to Mulwala and the Bundalong area. Being a almost exclusive lure fisherman they are spectacular water ways. But with them being an hour and a halve drive from home and that trip takes me past Barham, the gulf, Bearii, Cobram etc it makes it out of reach for a "flick" after work or evening.
So with Lake Nagambie only being 45mns away and the multiply times I have drive past it on the way to Melbourne I thought there has to be good fish in there. But I have hear many times that it is Lake Disappoint when it comes to fishing.

Yesterday left home between 3.30pm and 4pm for my second attack on the lake.
This time with a mate in his boat. I was the student as he had caught some nice fish there in the past.

Weapons of choice.
#1 stump jumpers - Light and dark Green,
Codgers in yellow and purple,
Bassman DT in Hi Vis orange
Pompadour in black and silver
Zerek Stalker in orange
Cod dog in red and black (go bombers)

Got two for the afternoon.
first was a 45cm Murray cod
Second was a 66.5cm Murray cod.

Both took the Bassman DT (these are a great lure, if I could only take one lure with me the orange DT would be hard to go pass) .
The 45cm one was taken flicking though a group of snags in about 12ft of water.
The 66cm was taken in 28 ft of water and I dropped the DT down the side of a stump and just slow rolled it back (to be honest I was doubtful that we were in 28 foot of water and was checking the depth, but I will be doing this again HA) Both fish smashed the DT and were pinned on the front hook.

Cheers Jed

Great effort! The orange 'Bassman DT', it has orange blades rather than orange skirt/plastic?
Cheers

just make sure you use a lure clip with them or the way they connect the blade arms to the body of the spinnerbait can cut the line.
Mustard fasttach is my choice, fast to change lures too.

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Yes, it looks like great waters. The water clarity was spectacular, can't wait to get back there.
