It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Nice fishies! All I have done so far in regards to cod opening was to go on an unarmed recon mission yesterday and was happy with what I saw! Undercover parking and can fish it in a violent storm with no risk of being hit by a falling tree unless the f***er gets flung sideways by a fkn tornado!

Great fish off the surface mate.
The boof when he hit the lure would've got the heart racing I bet.

I tried to up the ante Dave but couldn't match your effort! I got out to the Goulburn last night for a few hours. Conditions weren't ideal with a cool wind blowing. I also left my lip grips at home.

This was the type of water I fished:

I got boofed by a really nice trout cod on the 6 inch cracker:

Hornet, in this pic you can clearly see the markings on the trout cod. Compare it to Dave's fish:

Didn't haul it out of the water as I was on a log and without grips, but the fish would have gone over 60 cm:

Picked up this trouty about 30 cm later and had one other boof that failed to hook up:

See you at the codference!

6 of us camped on the Broken creek at Barmah, Barmah Lakes camp area was underwater
The area was packed
2 youngens caught 4 cod each biggest 66cm & 55cm, the rest were undersize
3 geriatrics caught 2 trout cod, one 30cm the other the size of your hand
I fished LB on the Broken creek using yabbies, shrimp, chicken corn & worms
Cast one rod about 12ft out in deep water and the other (jw ph) over to a nice snag near the other bank. I went to get a cup of tea & the port hacking starting screaming, line was peeling off at great speed. I got back to my rod and could see the culprit (A 12ft stacer), I couldn't even slow it down, so I broke it off. After that the only fish I caught were little silver ones in the shrimp trap (what are they again ?). In my defence there was a heap of boat traffic in the creek.
We had a great weekend. The spot is good for boats because it goes deep probably 6ft from the shore. Back of trailer submerged and maybe your towball at waters edge.
If you head out from the pub, turn left just before the bridge. You can take your dog. No facilities here, but over bridge is toilets etc - over the bridge is National park so, no dogs
Cheers Gra
