Dartmouth
Managed to sneak away and get a fish and hunt in at dartmouth .
Arrived abt 5am thur moirning to find abt 30km winds and heaps off rain ,not very comfortable fishing condictions but great for trout.
It didnt take to long ro find some nice rainbiws feeding off a point and manages to land 4 off them on a rapala lure witg a trout patteen top and white underbody.
The wind and rain has got a bit harder so i headed up a arm to escape and trolled up this steep valley with the electic motor..i was protected from the wind.
On the way up this trolling run (which goes for abt a km) i hooked 2 browns .....both which took my line back under the trees they come from.....both big fish (i only have 4 pd line) ...lost 2 lures .
On the way back down i landed 3 small browns on a doulble jointed black rapala...all 3 fish around 30/35 cms
I sttopped fishing then and went for a humt.
On friday ithe wind waa only abt 15kms and the rain had eased off....i started fishing abt 2pm and took most off tge afternoon to find the fish...i found alot off fish along a dirty bank off water....the trout were just sitting in the clear water waiting for tucker to get washed out.
I managed to land 8 trout in the last hour off day light and a hour into the night..one off the trout was a ripper fish ..these fish were caught on the black rapala and a bkack tassie with the pink head...i was freezing so i headed back to get warm and dry
Saurday was similiar weather but the fish lazy and jusrt holding in the themocline ..i couldnt find any fish feeding outside off 35 meters down.
I put the downriggers out and trolled around the themocline most off the afternoon for 6 trout....i had to put on big.lures to get strikes...similiar to what you would use for barra..i kept 5 off these fish to eat .
On sunday the wind stopped and so did the trout so headed off for another shoot....

Top report mate! Gotta love the dart! It's 1 of my favourite places. Plenty of good tucker there. Reef and beef special dart style! Did you see many animals while out for a hunt? No Macquarie perch?

Re: Dartmouth
A very productive trip BM, you managed to miss the snow this time too, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

Re: Dartmouth
Gotta love a bit of surf & turf! Good going mate, best of both worlds.
Must admit I've never ventured up to Dart before. It's a very deep lake from my understanding. Does it produce many XOS fish?
