Overnighter on the Murray

Post by davek » Tue Apr 24, 2018 4:04 pm

I spent last night on the Murray for something different.

I had bait rods in while I set up and landed a 38cm Murray Cod

Later in the evening I walked the bank flicking surface lures but never raised a fish.
This morning I headed out again and raised a 43cm Trout Cod

After that I progressed down the river but failed again. I returned to where I picked up the Trout Cod and second cast a big fish tail wacked the lure in front of me and scared the sh!t out of me. I only had a little pompadour on and I'm thinking if I had one of the bigger lures on I may of hooked up. Oh well, there's always next time, :( cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

So you got a fright mate? Hah hah, I told you! Remember that night on the Goulburn how I was apprehensive about making my first cast after catching the big one? Now you understand. I've caught big barra up north but nothing in freshwater in this country matches the noise when a big bucket mouth goes ballistic on the top.

Well, you know where there is a big one and I know where there is a big one. When work quietens down in a couple of weeks we will have to head up there and have a crack at them. And yes, its not the Broken or the Ovens, so you need something with bigger hooks than the Pompadours. From now on there will be fewer hits and more doughnut sessions. The plus side is you might nail a big one.

Best Wishes
