Its been a magnificent start foir cod this year.

Truly a great nights fishing. Was there more than the one trout cod Will?

Paul, I got no trouties off the top. Contrary to some "experts" the better trout cod (40 cm+) go a bit quiet when water temperatures get a bit high - it could be a dissolved oxygen thing. Generally they bite their heads off in Nov-Dec, go a bit quieter Jan-Feb, and come back with a vengeance in Mar-April. The smaller ones still feed though a bit reduced as well. Robbie Alexander at the codference said that the trouties bite well for about three weeks longer in the Ovens than the Murray cod at the end of the season. From memory I picked up 4 small cod on the stumpy and 2 were trouties.

Graham, I know time is running out, I am not far off 60, so I am having a real crack while I can! I wasted too much of my life trying to do things to 'save the world' - like writing true tales. I've lost a few friends in recent years which drives the message home.

I'm amazed you still have that lure lol, I'd of thought you would of lost it by now,

Davo, it's not the original, I lost that up a tree a while back! I carry a few replacements Also, after checking my leaders on recent trips I have given them away and now use wire traces.

I used to love night fishing when I was a kid - looking up at a million stars and fishing by sound instead of sight. :a_goodjob:

Hopefully, there are still a few more years left in this old dog.
