G'day guys.On the subject of water temp and trout I think you will generally find that extended periods of hot weather will put them off a bit.To offset this there are a couple of tactics you can try.Fishing tailwaters with a cold dam inflow, around feeder stream inflows and at higher elevations during hot weather can work.Fishing at night or early morning also allows time for the water temp to drop.It has been my experience that once the water becomes tepid (i.e.not cold in comparison to ambient temp) even if you do catch one they just lie back to be towed in. Regarding eating Jim I believe that they can go many months without food and can feed off there own flesh something like the way we store body fat.
