Eildon Pondage

Post by nmgar » Sun Feb 26, 2017 5:27 pm

I was at Eildon today so I thought I'd take the opportunity to christen my new outfit in the Pondage.

I only had an hour to spare and only managed one take. Unfortunately the rear trebles caught the gills so I didn't release the 35cm rainbow.

Plenty of people fishing but I didn't see any other fish landed.

Fisheries released 150 ex broodstock rainbows during the week, between 1kg to 2.5 kg.

I just weighed it; it came in at 511gm so not one that Fisheries released.

I caught it in the lower pondage just beside the bridge. I initially tried 50 metres further down as I expected that would be where they would release them. I did see 1 small trout cruising in the shallows but there were 5 people fishing that area and no one had a touch.

Neil

:nicefish: good work, cheers davo
It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

I reckon if he is talking about trebles catching the gills, he had a lure on. Not bait.
Maybe a tassie devil?
