Central Vic fish stockings

DPI senior fisheries officer Greg Brodie said that if families were looking to catch a fish in a close location, there were three well stocked lakes in Bendigo, in lake Tom Thumb at Eaglehawk, ForestLake at Kangaroo Flat and the Kennington Resorvoir.”They’ve been strategically chosen so that people across Bendigo can access them”, he said. The lakes are stocked with a plentiful supply of redfin and trout of catchable size. For bait Mr Brodie reccommened worms, lures an artificial product called Powerbait, “It really depends on what a person prefers to use,”he said.Resorvoirs that have been stocked in the wider region are Harcourt, Barkers Creek and Cairn Curran as well as three locations in the Kyneton region—the upper Coliban, the Lauriston Resorvoir and the Malmsbury reserve.
No fishing licence is required if you are fishing in the Crown Land waters and you are under 18 or are a pension holder.Mr Brodie said the DPI website offered further details related to licences and the location of stocked and regulations. He also said that people should be aware that at this time of the year there was a closed season on rivers and streams.Mr Brodie said recreational fishing was becoming more popular.”It is a great way from screens, get out with the family, have a picnic and get some fresh air,” he said.

I question if the DPI have stocked redfin this is unusal practice if it has been done!! MS

Most of the local lakes are quite dirty after the weekend rain.A report also says Cairn Curran is as well

I think they probably could have worded it better!! I have no doubt they should have said they were plentiful (naturally) and feel free to catch as many as you want! I think they are doing a good job (DPI, not redfin!).
thanks

Bull. Redfin is even considered pest.
Agree with Brett, you need to back up your statement.
In WA it is illegal to return a redfin back to the water.
