Finally went out last week for cod opening! I knew it would only be a short session as I can not stand on my feet too long. I tried a Mantis surface lure for about twenty minutes before I decided I had had enough (sore back etc). The water doesn't look too bad there!

That is all!

Hit the road on Saturday to meet up with Dangerous Dave at Numurkah. Somehow it turned into a road trip with our initial destination not even getting a go. First stop was a channel system that neither of us have fished before. It flows out of the Murray as opposed to our usual Goulburn channel haunts. We caught FA in this channel and got blown off the banks by wind and partially devoured by flies!

Then we worked our way back to a familiar creek.

Afer a few hours we ended up with just one fish...Dave got a cod around 45 cm's. Dave also scored his PB shrimp net! His net broke loose, did a lap of the back current then convieniently hooked itself on Dave's line on the other side of the creek!

Was a good arvo spent looking for and trying new spots. I have been known to say...the best way to discover new locations...is to get lost!
cheers

One fish on a trip will erase those fishless trips.

Four hours spent channel side in northern Vic yesterday for....nothing! Not even a bite as far as I know. The biggest surprise was my bait trap did not provide a single yabbie or shrimp! Yep...late summer in a channel system which normally coughs up sh!tloads of bait could not provide for me. The fishless trip I can handle as it happens but not being able to get bait has me baffled! I used cheese for bait in the end. Never mind as I am planning my next trip mid week and the 'donut' run will end!

G'day Mr Fool, we all have gone fishing and caught nothing. No one better knows about catching nothing than myself, so much so, that I have got it down to a fine art of nothing. In fact, my prowess of catching nothing, also is reflected in how I come home with nothing and the subsequent catch of nothing being sorted.

I have a few tips, if you have caught nothing, that this is the best way of dealing with a catch that comprises of nothing.

First an incision under the gill rakers, there's nothing to it.

Then a with a clean smooth motion, an incision along the backbone. With a sharp knife it would feel like nothing's there.

IMG_20190218_155921p.png

Over the backbone, to the other side, to remove the fillet, leaving nothing behind on the carcass.

IMG_20190218_155924p.png

As far as any bones in the fillet, there should be nothing, so off with the rib cage.

IMG_20190218_155928p.png

To de-skin your fillet, pin the tail with your thumb nail and slide the knife under the flesh but above the skin. See, nothing to it.

IMG_20190218_155931p.png

Making sure there is nothing left of the skin.

Vwalla, a fillet of nothing , , , , mmmm yummy

IMG_20190218_155936p.png

And what better way to wash down a hard day of catching nothing , , , , Jacks, and like your catch, should always be kept on ice

Cheers, Bugatti

I went to an air show exhibition once... And there was nothing.
Literally just a thin air.
