Pykes Creek This Afternoon

Post by TrevKing » Sun Dec 29, 2013 10:54 pm

Headed down to Pykes Creek this afternoon, fished near the playground (thanks to forum member hsv2ko for the spot recommendation :) ).

FISH CAUGHT:
4 roach (all about 20cm)
2 carp (both about 30cm)
1 trout (got off :( )

It was a good session. My younger sister and I both caught our first roach ever and dad hooked (and lost) his first trout.
Two blokes near us also caught a couple of carp.

All fish caught on corn except the trout which was caught on a PredaTek hardbody lure.

Also got some GoPro videos of catching carp, might post one tomorrow if I can figure out how.

Looks like a good place to be! What are the creeks in the area like to fish?
cheers

Sounds like fun mate, is that a Roach? I thought they have a much deeper body and bright red fins?

I was aware of that after but I thought there would be some feeder streams into it? I assumed it would be situated on a creek!
cheers

I'm pretty sure its a roach, just a small one... not sure what else it would be.

Yeah it was quiet last night I didn't even get one lol my mate got all of them I blamed it on not having my fishing car with me so wasn't fussed there was no way I would have taken fish home in my car lol. Love the place tho I find it most relaxing to fish.

Really quiet at Pykes tonight, picked up one little reddie, missed a few bites and dropped one fish that felt like a carp. It was really dead right before dark which is usually the best time too.
