Rocklands 2016

Post by fitzy90 » Tue Mar 29, 2016 8:25 am

Sitting back at my desk after a few days over easter, will write up a quick report from the easter break.

Went to our usual camp spot at Glendenning on Rocklands up in the Grampians with all the family down for the easter weekend.
Arrived on the Wednesday evening ready to do some fishing in the morning. The Guys already there had been getting a few smaller fish here and there but the general consensus was the fish had shut down.
Thursday morning ended up being the best session of the weekend in regards to quality, we landed 15 reddies with the biggest going 43.5cm and another 4 between the 35 - 40 cm mark. Worms and yabbies did the damage.

Thursday
The Friday proved to be the best day in regards to quantity, all up we would have caught 40 fish from our boat with two other boats from the camp also doing well, would have thrown back twice the amount we kept.

Friday
All the fish we kept were divided between everyone in the camp so there was not a lot of left overs.

Saturday we went rock fossicking as you can find geodes if you know where to look, spent the afternoon in the bush and came home with a shoe box full of crystals and geodes

Geode

By sunday the fish had gone quiet again so it was great to just sit around the camp fire and take it all in.

If anyone is looking for a great free camping spot i can not speak highly enough of the place

cheers

Fitzy.

Awesome stuff. Good to see a few reddies bite the dust. I'd love to be able to take pictures of the night sky like that.
