Two more trips chasing Gummies in the usual spot. First trip resulted in a solid Gummy about 1.2 m and 3 small ones released. Trip 2 was 4 hours without a bite - not even pickers! The water was fairly dirty, a slow current to the East, with quite a bit of weed. One can but try!!!

Am out of salmon - mix of pilchard, blue bait and squid - no bites on squid.

Well finally got out for a fish. Crossed the bar at daybreak. Ebb tide a bit bouncy even with the swell down to 1.2m. Headed east and smooth water once clear of the bar area. Stopped at the bluff reef for about half an hour, but nothing there, so headed up to Tyers and fished in 14 MTRS. It was pretty slow. After an hour I was getting ready to move. While pulling in the sea anchor, one rod gave a bit of a twitch. Picked it up after getting the sea anchor onboard. Another bite. Gave it a tug. Nothing on it. Let it back, another bite, then another, hit it, this time it loaded up. Too much to be a flathead. Then it really got lively. Bit of a battle and up came a nice medium size gummy. Netted it and landed it. Quickly dispatched it and head and gutted. Into the Esky and back over went the rod. Another bite another hook up but not much of a fight. Nice flathead. The next hour nothing. Tried in close , nothing. Headed back to the bluff to find the birds working and a lot of splashing. Out came a lure and wack fish on. The patch was moving fast but manage 6 before they disappeared. So nice fresh salmon for tomorrows gummy hunt and a pretty good feed or 3 from today's gummy. Best time of the year for fishing here now.

Gave it another go today. No gummies. 3 good size flatties. Went out to the reef for 2 good snapper

Once school goes back after Christmas.
Our fish come out of hiding.
Same as the prawns.
Hopefully they haven't got the white spot disease from supermarket prawns.
From now on the weather will start to calm down.
I find that late autumn and winter is the best time offshore.

Fished sunday on the beach down near the Grange. Slow going managed 2 gummies. Let one go as it was just size. Had 3 flatties as well. Today went out to the reef for 6 snapper/ pinkies. Then into Petmans for one very nice sized gummy and a few flathead. No records but a good feed.. Very busy at the ramp. Lots of people out on the water.

Today I came back in about 6.30 pm and the crowd at the ramp had gone. Went out and anchored in 12 m off The Pines at 4.00 pm with a burley pot down and was kept busy by an assortment of small School Sharks, a couple of Banjos, a Port Jackson, a big ray that I broke off and finally a good Gummy to make the trip worthwhile. Two hours of action!

re-tyred do you put down a burley pot when chasing Gunnies or are they a by-product of drifting for Flatties. Also where is Petman's please? I have found that fishing a paternoster rig and keeping baits off the bottom reduces the number of rays that get hooked up.
