Massive salmon there and in the channel today, few kingfish chasing them too. Just went down the channel with my granddaughter for a look at the seals and dolphins. Notice a black patch in the water just inside the entrance. Cast in a bang granddaughter caught her first kingy. It was just undersize so we chucked it back, next cast she had a 60cm salmon.
Very nice, how big was it? In the 40s? lure/bait?
I've booked a camp site there for Labor Day long weekend 7,8,910 March. Taking couple mates. Any tips in March for:
- Prawning? Will be full moon 10th March and high tide 10pm. Good or bad?
- Crabbing? What to look to drop the net and chicken bone?
- Will kingfish still be around by then? On lures? I'll bring couple kayaks with me. Hopefully I'll catch my first kingfish!

Prawns will be about in march. If it is a bright night then they ate very flighty. Few soft shells about on the full moon too. Crabs best spot at the moment is up towards the barrier landing. Went there with my granddaughter on Monday. We had 20 good size one in an hour. They back a lot of little ones.
Salmon today was just on 60cm a cracker.
How to get to the entrance either side is by boat or the water taxi. Flagstaff jetty for eastern side. Drew jetty western side.
There's nothing . . . absolutely nothing . . . half so much worth doing as simply messing around in boats.

Just chucked a hard body lure today. We weren't out there to go fishing , we went up to Entrance bay to do some snorkeling. Just pop out to the entrance on the way back to check out the seals and dolphins. Notice a massive patch of salmon and threw a lure at it. Could of hung around and caught more but had other things to do.

Side the trawler was is the western side. Access via Drew jetty. Cross the entrance channel and it is the first jetty. Has a sign on it. Old derelict house there
