EP's In The Swamp

Post by Whiskers » Sat Jun 22, 2019 9:06 pm

It was bitter cold today in the estuary and the surf beaches were way to rough so I decided to explore the coastal swamps. Recent rains had flooded the swamps, which just a few short months ago had very little water in them.

It wasn't easy going. The reeds in places were 10 foot tall and you could never be sure how deep the water was, so it was on with the waders and with the help of a wading pole it was time to see what was in there.

The end result was doughnuts but three EP's were hooked and lost in the snags plus quite a few lures were donated to the swamp Gods.

I considered it a good day and learned a lot. Those flooded swamps have a lot of potential.

Man, you are dedicated to your craft Whiskers :a_goodjob: . Then I realised, going that bit extra, is where the best results are. 3-0 is at least promising. But like you said, always a good day being able to get out, that's the best and only way to learn those lessons too.

Those Swamp Gods sound as unforgiving as the Reef Gods :(

Cheers, Bugatti

Head back in spring or summer if there's enough water about and throw surface lures at dusk, just watch out for snakes of which there was plenty when I was in that area

It’s always a good day when you learn a lot!
At least you hooked onto a few mate.
Hopefully next time you have some more luck landing them :)
Cheers

80% bushmans gel on face, neck and back of the hands with the rest clothed. Haven't ever had a mozzie, sandfly or leech problem
