Metung fishing report

Post by ango » Tue Jun 11, 2019 8:30 pm

With the long weekend and reports of whiting getting caught around Metung I went down to have a look. I arranged an extra day off since the forecast for Tuesday (today) was so good. I launched at Paynesville and did the run across Lake King to Metung. I certainly caught my share of whiting, unfortunately they were all throwbacks (15 cm approx.). I called into the ramp at Shaving Point for a dump and there were four guys fishing land based, they said between them they had 4 keepers after fishing all morning so not much action there. I went across the channel to try for something bigger but the toadies were in overdrive. It was a magic day on the water with the seals and dolphins about and I thought "on days like today just being out here is enough, catching fish would be a bonus", on the way back across Lake King it was glassy calm so I could trim the motor right back and let her rip.
Cheers
Ango.

I know Ang, we say it's nice just to be out there , , , , and some days it is more truer than other days. BUT I'd ditto what everyone else is saying , , , , a day like that it is absolutely great , , , , and , , , , to be able to open her up and give it some stick is just fantastic.
