Seaspray long weekend report

Post by Kosta7 » Tue Nov 07, 2017 8:43 am

Spent 3 days fishing close to the caravan park. Conditions remain atrocious for land based fishos with lots of slimy weed. Crabs on and off picking baits. Sun night and Mon morning the side wash was that bad that within 1 minute bait was 50m further down. Since I had nothing better to do I was just trying to use different techniques to keep my bait down. Ended up using up to 18ounces mixed sinkers (drops, spiked and stars) all unsuccessfully (yeah I know...I was bored :(
Despite conditions managed to hook some decent fish. First cast on Sat am and landed a thumper salmon for my new PB at 61cm and weighing around the 3.5kg mark. Over the 3 days got a decent feed on blue spotted flatties with the biggest at 59cm. At the end happy man to bring some fish back home :-D

It's an exhilarating feeling catching a fish
But it's an even better feeling releasing them

This is my poor popper after taking a beating this weekend.
Love 90 mile beach and has always produced for me, but freaking hell it can be so unpredictable and hard to fish...

Awesome Kostaglou.
I got my first LB Sambo off there & still my best Flattie at 58 cm.
But yeah the weed, side wash & crabs are annoying.
Nice bag of fish

It didn't taste as nice as the smaller ones. They tend to go a bit more "fishy" when bigger
